Terms of Use

These terms apply whenever you use Milwaukee Residents Directory. By continuing to use the service, you agree to them. If you do not agree, discontinue use.

1. Nature of the Service

Milwaukee Residents Directory is a privately operated reference to public rolls, indexes, and historical collections associated with Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It is not a government repository, and it has no connection with the City of Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, a Wisconsin agency, any court, or any records custodian.

2. Acceptable Use Rules

Use is permitted only for lawful purposes. Neither the service nor information reached through it may be used to:

  • Stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, or harm any person
  • Locate someone protected by a restraining or protective order
  • Commit identity theft or fraud
  • Make FCRA-regulated decisions (credit, employment, tenant, insurance)
  • Scrape, copy, or republish the site's content at scale
  • Interfere with the site's operation or security

3. No Consumer Reports

Milwaukee Residents Directory is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. § 1681 et seq. Content here and results from a linked search tool are not consumer reports. They may not be used to decide eligibility for credit, employment, housing, insurance, or another FCRA-regulated purpose.

4. External Links and Tools

Government portals, archives, and third-party services, including sponsored search tools, apply their own terms and privacy policies. We do not control their content, access, fees, availability, or information practices.

5. Disclaimer of Warranties

The service is offered "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. No promise is made that content will be complete, accurate, or current, or that an outside portal will remain available or produce a correct result.

6. Liability Limitations

To the fullest extent allowed by law, the operators are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from use of the service or an external resource, including reliance on records found through either.

7. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold the operators harmless from claims or demands, including reasonable attorneys' fees, that arise from misuse of the service or breach of these terms.

8. Intellectual Property

Copyright protects the original writing, design, logo, and layout. You may link to a page or quote a short passage with attribution. Full-page republication and systematic copying are prohibited.

9. Revisions to the Terms

A revised version may be posted here. Use after a revision is published constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

10. Restricting Access

Access may be blocked or limited, without notice, when a user abuses the service or violates these terms.

11. Wisconsin Governing Law

Wisconsin law governs these terms without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Public access to records held by Wisconsin and Milwaukee government custodians is governed in part by the Wisconsin Public Records Law, Wis. Stat. §§ 19.31-19.39. That law does not turn this private service into a public authority or make it the custodian of linked records.

12. Severability

If a provision cannot be enforced, all remaining provisions continue in effect.
